Tom Rees, Loan Officer

Every day young Tom Rees got on his bicycle and road through Bainbridge Island’s Wing Point neighborhood to deliver the Seattle Times, seven days a week, no matter what the conditions.

It was this experience during his elementary and middle school years that Tom first honed key business skills: Leaning the importance of customer service, accountability and being highly organized.

Today Tom is well known by Islanders and referred by local top-producing Realtors as “Mr. Dependable” for his proven track record as a loan officer. For nearly 15 years he’s expertly navigated the choppy mortgage market waters, skillfully helping hundreds of homebuyers and homeowners obtain and manage their largest asset.

But helping people buy a home and refinance is more than just crunching numbers for Tom, despite the fact that he’s an accomplished businessman. The University of Washington business school grad with a concentration in finance knows how to help folks traverse today’s mortgage minefield, but for Tom, it’s still a people business.

“I love being part of something that helps people improve their lives,” Tom said.

“Advising clients on mortgage decisions and guiding them through process of getting a loan is a huge responsibility,” Tom added. “After all, it’s the biggest financial investment most people ever make. In the current lending environment, you have to be an expert, as mistakes just are not tolerated. Knowing that I made the process smooth and a little less stressful is tremendously satisfying.”

Born and raised on Bainbridge, Islanders trust Tom based on his strong communications and organizational skills, his depth of industry knowledge, his honesty and dependability: He gets the job done without surprises.

Because he lives and works on Bainbridge, Tom has a passion for his community: He’s been involved with youth sports as a soccer, football and baseball coach over the past 12 years, is an Elder at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church as well as a volunteer as an adult leader for its Youth Group, and he’s member of the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, having served on the Board of Directors as President, Treasurer, and Community Service Director.

“Bainbridge is my home,” Tom explains. “It is where I am from. I grew up here, raised my kids here and intend to retire here. I love the special sense of community that comes with living on an island. It the feeling that were all in this together.  We may not agree on everything, but we all love our community.  We appreciate and support our youth and enjoy one of the best school systems in the state.  We protect our environment and support our local businesses.  When we want to enjoy something bigger, we just need to hop on the ferry and head east to Seattle or beyond.  When we want wilderness and natural beauty, we take the bridge and head west to the Olympics and Washington coast. It doesn’t get any better than Bainbridge.”
